meandering is not about trying to be right but trying to be faithful

I watched a CNN interview of the woman who talked the man in Georgia down until the police got there.  She was terrified and somehow, she knew he was also…so there they were;   2 terrified human beings and ONE of them ONCE AGAIN had the power to kill the other…and many more.

No one was killed.  Somehow it worked.  She believes it was God.

We could talk about that forever, eh?

Maybe another day.

What keeps coming to me today, however, is that NO ONE that I have found has mentioned anything about the ‘color’ of these people.  The young man with the weapon of mass destruction was white (which seems often to be the case).  The woman was black as was the 911 operator who helped her.

Two BLACK women diverted the killing by a WHITE man of a school full of children and adults.

Never once in this interview did this woman mention the race of the young man or the 911 operator.  Never once did I even think about it during the interview…

…but, later, while watching the MLK footage and thinking back to those times and these times and how we all seem to label and label and label, it came to me.

Would it have been the same story with 2 white women and a black man?

I want to think so but I wonder…
