I WAS NOT GOING TO BLOG TODAY!

BUT then my meeting got postponed and I went to my FB page and found this unfathomable (for me, anyway) article about how so many are upset that Miss America is of Indian descent.

Also made the HUGE mistake of going to the site and reading the comments, many from young persons.

I will not repeat them but, suffice it to say, the comments reflected strong opinions that the new Miss America is not really ‘American”.

It frightens me.

#1… the information they have geographically is so far off that it is almost funny.

They compare her to people of Iraq and Egypt because???   Well, her hair and skin and eyes are DARK, after all.   Googled it.  India and Iraq are 2331 miles apart.  Egypt and India are 3062 miles apart.  These are ALL entirely different countries with entirely different peoples and cultures (which by the way are inhabited by human beings just like me).

NONE of them has a state called New York where the new Miss America was BORN.

#2… the information they have historically as to how this country even came to BE is so skewed that one doesn’t even know how to respond.

This is an entire country of immigrants.  ALL of our ancestry began somewhere else unless we are Native American (who, by the way, are dark-skinned).

#3….one person said, “I am not a racist but this is America.”

No.  Comment.  Really.  No.  Comment.

We have more access to information than we have ever had before in the history of human kind and yet we seem to know nothing about each other.

It frightens me…

…so I blogged today.
