Heard a man today on NPR who is an Asian/Hispanic foodie.  How about that?

He said ever since he was a child he was a 'foodie'  because in his culture food was so important.  He was not from the best part of town so would often go into restaurants and feel out of place and unwelcome.

He decided if he ever was blessed enough to act on his foodiness and  have a restaurant, he would make sure that anyone who came in no matter what shape, color, clothes, age, wherever, whoever, whatever, would be greeted with a hug so as to truly feel welcomed;  as if everyone there was "just waiting for them to arrive".

Cool.

He then said that he knew it also had to be about the food and he wanted to follow in his mom's footsteps cuz' she had "flavor in her fingertips."

I LOVED that.

Flavor in her fingertips.

So, anything she touched would be flavored.

That is NOT true of me and my food (ask my family).

But, I would love it to be true in another way.

I would love to have 'faith in my fingertips'.

I would love for people to come into my home and feel truly welcome as if I were "just waiting for them to arrive."

Then, when I gave them that hug, I would love for them to feel touched by that faith.

I think that is what churches are MEANT to be.  A place where no matter what shape, color, clothes, age, whoever, wherever, whatever, one feels truly welcomed.

A place that has just been waiting for you to arrive.

A place that touches you gently with faith-filled fingertips and feeds EVERY soul.
