It is November 17th and we are staying with our 16 year old grandson, Alex, while his folks are taking a week of well deserved respite.

I am sitting at their table looking out the window and this is my view.

They are predicting that this will continue throughout today and tomorrow.

SNOW! SNOW!  SNOW!

It is absolutely BEAUTIFUL when it first comes down.  Like anything new and fresh, it brings a sense of wonder.

BUT then, you have to SHOVEL it and DRIVE in it and it turns brown and slushy and gets REAL OLD after months of it and the wonder wears off....BIG TIME!

So, as I was attempting to NOT let myself go immediately to the YUCK of it, I remembered a song that I heard for the first time last year. It speaks of how God comes quietly and gently LIKE THE SNOW.

Those lyrics resonate with me.

I am not going to tell you that I still don't get a knot in my stomach when driving in a blizzard OR that Joe is rejoicing in the exercise he gets while shoveling OR that either of us are unconcerned about the roof leaks from so much snow and ice.

BUT, I AM going to attempt to play this song over in my mind when I am beginning to 'awfulize' (a great term my friend, Mary, gave me). I AM going to call upon one of my favorite scriptures that this song brings to mind.

"Be still and know that I am God."

I share the song with you now for that reason.  You may not live where there is snow BUT wherever you live, you have something that begins with wonder and moves to angst....a storm, a marriage, a child, a job, a home, a family, LIFE.

A simple song will not change whatever causes us to awfulize BUT it can help us remember to take a deep breath, get perspective and remember that in a moment of stillness, we can find a titch of peace....

....and the gentle touch of God.

Just click below;  I hope you feel that gentle touch.
