It has been over 2 months since I have blogged.  Mostly for personal reasons since we have moved, etc. but, recently, someone asked me if it was because of all that is happening in this world and not knowing how to address it.

That too.

You see, in this time of pondering, I have realized something profound.

I am in the minority.

Clearly.

The NRA has more power than I can  fathom and our culture not only allows it but is leaning into it.

Go, guns!?

Donald Trump has more power than I can fathom and our culture is lifting it for all the world to see.

People say that he "says it like it is" and "has the guts to say what everyone else is thinking".

If, indeed, there is any semblance of truth in either of those statements then I need no other proof that I am in the minority.

How Donald "thinks it IS" certainly does not match my view of how it is and he ABSOLUTELY does NOT say what I am thinking.

Not even close.

BUT, the polls say he has tons of support.

Go, Donald!?

I am beyond miffed by it all but I do not want for this realization to shut me down.

I am afraid that is what too many of us are doing.

The very least I can do is continue to respectfully disagree, TO MODEL SOMETHING DIFFERENT, if for no other reason than to be able to sleep at night.

Because I just don't know how to get around believing it is cowardly to shut down and give up.

I cannot help remembering those who came before me who were in the minority MIGHTILY but they did NOT shut down and the world changed.

Maybe I will not make that kind of MIGHTY MARK but I CAN make a little minority mark.

Because I keep hearing Jesus saying He knows it was said an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth but there is a BETTER way.

I just don't know how to get around feeling like 'Go, NRA' and 'Go, Donald' is moving back to a blind and toothless world.

A world that SHOOTS and SHOUTS!

I may be in the minority but I can, at least, find ways to whisper that I think there is a better way.
