Yet she loved them.
And they loved her.
As she found her way through this painful time, she spoke of how much she wished that she could find SOMEONE with whom to discuss all of this who did not disagree so fully that they thought her to be a complete traitor or who agreed so completely that they were utter fanatics.
Neither view left room for civility or Grace.
Sound familiar?
I find myself, 150 years later, identifying with this character.
Deeply. It is a matter of faith.
Makes me wonder if people think to look back at history when they speak of how it is different now.
Because if one looks back, the similarities are remarkable.
Oh, it gets better for a minute but then we find something to divide us and we spin back around and begin yet another war.
Like the one now,
the UN-Civil War!
