We have been away for almost a month. Out of the country. Hit the floor running when we returned less than a week ago and tomorrow we 'work the polls' from 6 am to ????

I would be lying if I said that I am looking forward to it.

I am not.

But I shall follow-through on my commitment.

I hope and pray that all of you have either voted or are going to do so.

I KNOW that this is an election that feels like one must slog through the mire...

...but it is WE who have left that mire so we best slog through it!

One of the homeless folk we work beside at NOAH said to me this morning when his voters card finally came in the mail (that he picks up at NOAH) that he was SO relieved.  He HAD to vote because he had seen some of the comments made by a candidate that demean handicaps, women, foreigners, etc.

He just didn't think that was how our country was to be.

I KNOW that others will have an argument against emails and Bill and whatever!

Plenty of mire to slog through.

But, I just came from the UK and the Netherlands where I have had countless questions about how we Americans could stand by those same demeaning comments that the homeless man mentioned.

I have witnessed (yet again) how much MORE the world knows about US than we choose to know about the world so I realize how our MIRE permeates the globe. If, indeed, we want to be "GREAT", we best open our eyes, our minds, our hearts to who and what might best serve not just us but ALL!

I KNOW that I am a global thinker. I KNOW that if I had never left my little corner, it would be easier to NOT consider all the other little corners...

..but, I HAVE left my little corner and, as much as I love it when I return, I believe it is no more or less important than any other corner...

...and just because you may not SEE those other corners and the folk in those corners, does not mean they are not there!

My bias, I know.

But this is my blog.

We need each other.

God did not just create America.

God created the world.

So, when you vote tomorrow...and PLEASE DO....slog through the mire to the homeless guy and the foreign family and the child across the street and the gal across the pond and all the little corners of this world and consider WHO and what might be more apt to make not just YOUR corner and OUR country but this world "GREAT"!

The world, I believe, God created for us all.
