I said I would do a blog for each of my grandchildren.  Things they have taught me.  Christmas turns my thoughts to Amber.

Amber is our only granddaughter.  Four grandsons and one granddaughter.  She is 23 now and although we were with her a ton when she was a child, we are not with her much now but she is ever ever in my mind and heart.

I miss her.

But, I also cherish the times we shared together when she was a child.

At Christmas, memories flow.

We traveled.  Trains, planes, automobiles.

We even went on mission trips together.  Amber is outstanding at interacting with anyone anywhere and seems to have a special spot in her heart for those who are in need.

We sang always....every song either of us could think of.

We played games and asked each other crazy questions.

We laughed together. Alot.

We talked about stuff that was hard to talk about. We cried together.

We also prayed together and, when life brought pain (and it did), I would often tell her that I believed that "God was in the midst".

I never really knew if she heard me or believed me but I HAD to say it.

Well, one day, she sent me an email and, in that email, she said that she was going to try to remember that "God was in the MIST".

I grinned at that.

And then  I thought, that is even better than God in the midst.

MIST:  a fine spray

Think about it.

When you walk through mist, you cannot really see it but you can feel it.  You're not sure where it comes from but you know it is there

It is fine and light and gentle.

What better way to think of the presence of God in our lives.

Indeed, that is how I think of it now.

Because of Amber.

Consider it yourself.

Next time you walk in the mist, think about God gently  raining down upon you and landing lightly.

Holy moments can come at unlikely times.

This Christmas, I pray Amber will ever feel God in the mist.

 I pray you will also.

merry misty christmas
