Thank you for coming here.
I went on FB this morning to find many people who are on my friends' list posting about the Duck Dynasty guy and his comments.
The upside about that is that I clearly have friends across all ways of thinking and I value that.
Alot.
The down side is that I worry deeply that people see a post and just decide from that post where they land.
And. So. The. Divide. Continues.
To hold myself accountable whenever I get one of these posts, I refuse to comment unless I have read everything I can behind the post.
Today I read the GQ interview from Duck Dynasty's Phil Robertson BECAUSE of the posts on both sides.
It seems important to do that. I wonder about the ease of just seeing a post that looks close to how I might think and then pressing 'like'.
It worries me.
Alot.
It is only when you go beyond the post that you can begin to know where YOU land. When you do, you can then choose to give INFORMED VOICE to it, hopefully with respect for others.
For our children, if nothing else, it seems important to not become an I-don't-need-to-read-or-give-voice-cuz'-that-looks-like-what-I-might-agree-with-so-I-will-press-like culture.
Otherwise, I fear,
The. Divide. Continues.
So, press like or share and do give voice...
but, first and foremost,
PLEASE READ.
