This is truly a meandering.
I just left Hobby Lobby without buying the item that I had found and was ready to purchase.
Hobby Lobby sells very cool crafts as well as decorative inspirational items. It is one of the companies that went to court because they did not want to provide some birth control for their female employees.
The owner who I just saw interviewed objected to covering intrauterine devices and so-called morning-after pills, saying they were akin to abortion. Though many scientists disagree, this is a belief he holds based on his interpretation of scripture and the sanctity of life.
I do not doubt his sincerity.
What I meander about is how to reconcile that belief
with the selling of the following items.
"WELCOME" above two guns.
Two guns above "We don't call 911". (11 is made from bullets)
To me, these items do not honor the sanctity of life.
So, I left without purchasing the $6 chime that I really liked.
It absolutely will not change a thing for Hobby Lobby but it just felt dishonest for me to go ahead and buy it. Brought to mind the words of a young girl that I just saw interviewed: "If you're not honest, what are you?"
So, while listening to Christian music, I walked the chime back to where I had found it, left the store and came here to meander.
You have every right to agree or disagree.
I ask only that you do not doubt my sincerity.
